Application

The Impulse Test Generators is a testinstrument for generating pulse signals and high voltage DC signals. Thisinstrument simulates the transient voltage caused by the overvoltage of thegrid power supply or the overvoltage of the communication network according tothe standard requirements

Instruments

SFT S2-1620 Impulse TestGenerators is controlled by Panasonic PLC programmable controller. Allparameters and working status of the instrument are displayed and set on colortouch screen. Menu interface; the instrument also has overvoltage protection toensure the safety and reliability of the instrument work.

The circuitin the Figure D.1 is used to generate the pulse voltage. The values of thecomponents used are shown in the TableD.1. The initial state of capacitor C1 isthe charging voltage Uc. 10/700μs (10μs is the apparent wave front time, 700μsis the apparent half-peak time, its waveform is shown in Figure 9, T1 is theapparent wave front time, T is the apparent half-peak time). To simulatelightning interference in a communication network.

A pulse testcircuit of 1.2/50 μs (1.2 μs is considered to be at the wave front time, 50 μsis the apparent half-peak time, and its waveform is shown in Figure 9) is usedto simulate the transient voltage in the power distribution system.

The pulsewaveform refers to the waveform under open circuit conditions, and thewaveforms are different under different load conditions. Since a large amountof charge is stored in the capacitor C1, care must be taken when using thesegenerators.
