Cable Reel Durability Tester IEC61214 (Model: SFT S2-1512)
Application
Designed accordingto 18.3 of IEC61214 electrical accessories- cable reels for household andsimilar purposes:
18.3 Theflexible cable is unreeled and recoiled on to the cable reel as in normal useat a maximum rate of 0.5m/s in the direction most likely to occur in normaluse,
The testis carried out as described in 18.3.1 to 18.3.3
18.3.1 Forhand-operated cable reels not incorporating movable contacts (slip rings or thelike):
-- the total length of the flexible cable isunreeled;
-- the number of cycles of operation is 100.
18.3.2 Forhand-operated cable reels incorporating movable contacts:
-- the flexible cable is unreeled in such a waythat the rotating part of the reel makes approximately two revolutions, andsuch that at least two turns of the flexible cable remain on the reel;
-- during the recoiling, the flexible cable isheld under tension applying a force of 10N/mm2 of the total cross-sectionalarea of the conductors of the flexible cable;
-- the number of cycles of operation is 10000.
18.3.3 For automaticcable reels:
-- the flexible cable is unreeled in such a waythat the rotating part of the reel makes approximately two revolutions, andsuch that at least two turns of the flexible cable remain on the reel;
-- during the recoiling, the flexible cable isheld under tension applying a force which is adapted to the reeling force of thecable reel;
-- the number of cycles of operation is 10000;
-- the cable of a reel incorporating anautomatic return mechanism shall be fully-unreeled and allowed to return unhindered100 times using the automatic system incorporated.
After the teste of 18.3.1, 18.3.2 and 18.3.3,the cable reel shall show no damage impairing safety and its further use.
In particular, the cable reel shall show:
-- no loosening of electrical connections;
-- no loosening of mechanical parts or connections;
-- no damage to the sheath or insulation of the flexible cable.
