Application
12.13.4 Boxes intended for mounting to a steel-stud structuralmember of a wall The box shall bemounted as in normal use to a steel-stud structural member as shown in Figure 16.
The assembly shall withstand a force of 180 N gradually appliedcentrally from the face of the box for a periodof 5 min, first in a direction tending to push the box into the wall openingand then in the opposite direction, tending to pull the box out of the opening.
With the force still applied, the deflection of the box shall notexceed 2 mm in either direction.
NOTE Additional support for the box can be necessary to minimizedeflection.
Application of the force and measurement of the displacement areshown in Figure 16.
